Firstly, Welcome! My name is Charlie and I travel and write about the curiousities, histories and mysteries of our strange, old world. I’ve been fascinated by the fortean for a long as a can remember, probably kicked started by TV and films like Scooby Doo and The Mummy (1999). Based in the county of Wiltshire, it may not be a suprise that I have a deep interest in history as I’m fortunate enough to have places like Avebury, Stonehenge and the City of Bath on my doorstep. But enough about me, who or what is Nessie. Named after the famous monster who lurks in the dark depths of Loch Ness, Nessie is mine and my long suffering girlfriends campervan. She is a converted ambulance and our faithful base of operations when we’re out exploring.

But what about the blog? The blog does two jobs. First it lets me document and ramble about everything from ghosts and cryptids, to local histories and curious cases. The second job is to serve as a way to contact me about your stories and tales. Have you had an encouter with a ghoul? Prehaps you’ve seen a large black cat or a UFO.
